Meet Tamika A.E Hamlet, Naturopathic Doctor

Naturopathic Doctor, Bedford, NS
Tamika Hamlet is a Toronto-native, with a unique academic and social background. She was born in Toronto, then raised in a small French town in Northern Ontario called Smooth Rock Falls. Here, she began to foster bilingual roots (fluent in both French and English) and develop a strong Canadian heritage. Her parents are from Dominica, the "Nature Island of the Caribbean", thus from a young age, she valued and appreciated the natural ways of life.

After receiving an Honours Degree in Arts & Science and Biochemistry at McMaster University, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. Her consistent desire to seek healing in a curative manner, led her to naturopathic medicine. She successfully completed the 4-year program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) – accredited Naturopathic Medical School in Canada – and subsequently passed both sets of international board and licensing exams.

Throughout her education at CCNM, Tamika developed a strong passion for homeopathy and nutrition. This led her to pursue a post-graduate course in Homeopathy (2011-2013) at the International Academy of Homeopathy in Greece under teachings of World-renowned Homeopath, George Vithoulkas. She believes that nutrition is the foundation for naturopathic medicine and along with homeopathy, can steer an individual in the direction of cure.

She addresses each patient's needs on an individual basis by utlizing the most appropriate modalities. These include acupuncture, diet and lifestyle counseling, and botanical medicine. She strives to do her very best for her patients with the knowledge she has gained. In her 3rd year at CCNM, she traveled to Nicaragua on a 10-day brigade with NDI (Natural Doctors International), where she helped provide naturopathic care to rural communities. As an intern at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, she was appointed a position on Pediatric specialty shift, where she primarily treated children ages 2-12 and women during pre and post-partum periods.  These experiences, combined, have shaped her into the compassionate and dedicated practitioner that she has become today.

Tamika strives to be an example to her patients. There is no perfect lifestyle, nor perfect health state. We are all human, thus we all have the potential to be out of balance at times; however, if we can learn from our challenges quickly and completely, we can all move forward together – doctors and patients alike.

Tamika encourages her patients to ask questions, and is passionate about health education and empowerment. She is currently accepting new patients and extends a warm welcome to everyone.
